In August 2006, the Baltimore Field Office of the EEOC brought this suit against EarthData International, Inc. (formerly known as EarthData Holdings, Inc.) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland alleging discrimination on the basis of sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Pay Act of 1963 (the "EPA"). Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendant had paid the charging party, a female employee, lower wages than her successor, a male employee, because of her sex. After some scheduling orders, the parties settled in March 2007 through a consent decree.
The two-year consent decree contained a non-discrimination clause and required the defendant to: provide EEO training for all its employees, report to the EEOC at specified intervals, and pay $25,000 to the charging party.
The terms of the agreement were to run for 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
