Inmates at the Mississippi County Jail in Missouri filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri against representatives of the county. The parties entered into a consent decree, and the plaintiffs asked the court to award them attorneys' fees. On October 24, 1985, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri (Judge Harris K Wangelin) held that the plaintiffs were entitled to an award of attorneys' fees even though a consent decree had been entered in the case. Patterson v. Rafferty 1985 WL 6053 (E.D.Mo., Oct. 24, 1985). We have no further information on the proceedings in this case.
