COVID-19 Summary: Plaintiffs were healthcare workers, suing for an injunction against New York's vaccination requirements for healthcare workers, requirements which do not allow a religion-based exemption. Initially, the plaintiffs won a temporary restraining order in the district court on September 14, 2021, however, the Second Circuit vacated the order on November 1, 2021, citing to a contrary outcome in the Eastern District of New York in We The Patriots USA, Inc. v. Hochul. The plaintiffs appealed to the United States Supreme Court, requesting temporary injunctive relief; in a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court decided to not block the vaccine mandate on December 13, 2021.
