Chronicle of Higher Education

Collects documents from Department of Education OCR Title IX investigation. Campus Context: “The institution has affirmed its commitment to victims of sexual assault, collected resources online, and taken steps to improve its policies and climate. The student group Rebels Against Sexual Assault is committed to 'the common goal of educating Ole Miss about sexual misconduct and prevention methods.' Sexual assault gained new attention on the campus in April 2016 when a member of a sorority at the university wrote a Facebook post that went viral decrying an annual fraternity event she said objectified women. 'This event epitomizes the problems we have on this campus regarding the roles of women,' she told the campus newspaper, 'but I don’t think this is the sole case of that.' The university investigated and penalized the fraternity, and the dean of students office asked members of the Interfraternity Council to come up with a set of proposed policies to curb risky behaviors, including sexual misconduct, The Clarion-Ledger reported."
