Resource: An Update on the California Prison Crisis and Other Developments in State Corrections Policy

Over the past several years, the California prison system has been the target of major reform efforts. The State Legislature took what was billed as a significant step towards reducing overcrowding when it passed Assembly Bill 900 in April 2007. The courts intervened and placed the prison healthcare system under the control of a Federal Receivership.
