[This summary is temporary while we research the case.] This is a school desegregation case in which the plaintiffs alleged that the fact that 1800 or more students had left the Pointe Coupee Parish School District to attend private schools (which resulted in the reestablishment of three almost exclusively black schools) meant that the Point Coupee Parish School Board had failed in desegregating their schools and therefore the plaintiffs were entitled to supplemental relief. The case was filed on March 12, 1965, in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
