(This summary is temporary while we research the case.) On April 10, 2024, plaintiffs, nine children in the foster care system, filed a class action lawsuit against Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and the state's child welfare director in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Plaintiffs alleged placement instability, insufficient medical care and inadequate staffing of the foster care system.
