New Hope Family Services (NHFS), a faith-based adoption provider, filed suit against the New York State Attorney General, the Commissioner of the New York Division of Human Rights, and others, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. NHFS filed suit because the New York Division of Human Rights threatened to investigate NHFS for its policy to only place infants with married heterosexual couples.
