[This summary is temporary while we research the case further.] In this lawsuits, three African-American plaintiffs sought compensation from the U.S. government for their ancestors' suffering. Plaintiffs sued under the Tucker Act and the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, the latter of which was created to compensate individuals affected by the federal government's internment of Japanese-American citizens and residents during World War II.
After their claims were denied by the Office of Redress Administration, plaintiffs filed suit in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The Court granted defendants' motion for summary judgment on the administrative record pursuant to 56.1. On appeal, the order was affirmed. The U.S. Supreme Court denied cert.
