(This summary is temporary, while we research the case.) President Trump has claimed that election irregularities and fraud caused him to lose the 2020 presidential election. A warehouse in Fulton County, Georgia, has been central to conspiracy theories about the loss. In a sealed matter, the Department of Justice obtained a search warrant for Fulton County records from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and executed it on Jan. 28, 2026. Press accounts reported that FBI agents seized hundreds of boxes of ballots, voter rolls, ballot images, and other election records from the 2020 presidential election, from the Fulton County Elections Hub and Operations Center in Union City.
On Feb. 4, 2026, it was reported that Georgia officials filed a motion seeking the return of records; the county’s motion was filed under seal, and reportedly also asked the judge to unseal the investigative affidavit that agents submitted to secure their search warrant.
