A person in an orange top reaches their hand toward a person in a white coat, with a stethoscope and blue gloves, who is holding a blister pack of medication.

The Clearinghouse has published the second in a series of white papers offering policy recommendations based on civil rights lawsuits.

The white paper, Policies for Expanding Hepatitis C Testing and Treatment in United States Prisons and Jails, proposes model policies for scaling up Hepatitis C testing and direct acting antiviral treatment in correctional settings. The policy recommendations address testing, evaluation and monitoring, treatment, education, staffing, recordkeeping, and more. They are based on settlement agreements and other litigation documents, medical guidance and best practice, existing department of corrections policies, and conversations with advocates and experts in the field.

The white paper and related project materials are available here.  The accompanying special collection of cases addressing Hepatitis C treatment in confinement is here
