On August 16, 2023, the California Coalition for Women Prisoners filed a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Prisons on behalf of a putative class of prisoners at the Federal Correctional Institute (“FCI”) Dublin, alleging that all people incarcerated there currently and in the future faced continuing harm as a result of the failure to protect them from sexual abuse by staff. After many months of litigation, including certification of the class, partial grant of preliminary injunctive relief, and appointment of a special master, on April 15, 2024, BOP announced in a statement that FCI Dublin was not meeting standards and would be closed.  Read more about the lawsuit and find case documents here
