Frostburg State was one of the initial 55 colleges under investigation in this wave of federal enforcement as announced by the Education Department in May 2014. In 2014, a Frostburg State police officer was charged with sexually assaulting a student years before, but the charges were dropped in exchange for the officer's cooperation in a larger investigation of the department.
