On January 28, 2025, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ranking Member Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) jointly wrote to President Trump days after the purported removals of eighteen Inspectors General, stating that “Congress was not provided the legally required 30-day notice and case-specific reasons for removal, as required by law” and “request[ing] that [President Trump] provide that information immediately.”
