On February 6, 2017, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, in concert with the Southern Poverty Law Center, Jones Walker LLP, and Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, filed a class action lawsuit challenging the State of Louisiana’s failure to provide indigent defendants with effective assistance of counsel in criminal cases.
