(This summary is temporary while we research the case) Named plaintiffs, children attending public schools in Alabama's Black Belt region, filed suit against the Governor of Alabama in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama challenging the Alabama Accountability Act ("the Act"). The Act gave tax breaks to families transferring their children to successful schools, discriminating against impoverished families. Plaintiffs were represented by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
