1:19-cv-02800 | U.S. District Court for the District of District of Columbia

Filed Date: Sept. 18, 2019

Clearinghouse coding in progress

Case Summary

(This summary is temporary while we research the case.) In 2019, three named plaintiffs filed a class action suit against the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, the District of Columbia, and the Chief of Police of the MPD in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Plaintiffs alleged that the MPD's practice of requiring employees who spend 172 cumulative days within a 24-month period at less than full-duty status to take disability retirement without offering reasonable accommodation as violative of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). On March 15, 2024, the court granted plaintiffs class action status.
