Case Summary

[This summary is temporary while we research the case.]

On September 30, 2025, this class action suit was filed against the Trump government's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) policies that grant federal immigration officers sweeping search and seizure powers that, plaintiff claims, violate the Fourth Amendment and exceed officers’ statutory and regulatory powers. Plaintiff alleges dragnet raids have been occurring on construction sites throughout this District. The officers rarely (if ever) have reasonable suspicion to suspect that the people working on or managing a particular construction site are violating immigration laws. Instead, DHS authorizes these armed raids based on the general assumption that certain groups of people in the industry, including Latinos, are likely illegal immigrants.

This case is ongoing.
