Case Summary

[This summary is temporary while we research the case.]

This is a lawsuit alleging that the differential treatment of the predominantly Black attendees of Black Bike Week in the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, deprived them of their constitutional rights.  The court preliminarily enjoined the City from implementing its planned restrictive traffic pattern, finding evidence of discriminatory intent based in part on the City's different treatment of Black Bike Week and Harley Week.  Ultimately, the parties entered into a settlement agreement that required the City to use the same traffic restrictions, patterns, or plan during both Harley Week and Black Bike Week.
