Case Summary

[This summary is temporary while we research the case]. This EEOC class action alleged that Customs and Border Patrol ("CBP") engaged in a widespread practice of discrimination against its pregnant employees. Specifically, the plaintiffs alleged that CBP placed Officers and Agriculture Specialists on light duty because of their pregnancy without offering them the opportunity to remain in their regular positions, with or without an accommodation, in violation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

On August 13, 2024, the parties reached a $45 million settlement, wherein CBP agreed to enact new policies to eliminate its discriminatory practices.
