This matter concerns allegations by DOJ and HHS that Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine discriminated against Jewish students by denying requests to reschedule classes, exams, and assignments for religious observances while granting comparable accommodations to non-Jewish students. DOJ and HHS reached a voluntary settlement requiring LMU to permit excused absences for religious reasons on the same basis as non-religious reasons, educate relevant students and personnel about the revised policy, and reverse penalties imposed on Jewish students during the 2025–26 school year.
