On May 2, 1978, the federal government filed a lawsuit against the Natchitoches Parish Jail in Louisiana to enjoin the defendants from discriminating on the basis of race in the jail. On October 23, 1978, the parties entered into a consent decree enjoining the jail from classifying inmates on the basis of race. On August 1, 1979, the court dismissed the case. We have no further information on this case.
