Case Summary

(This summary is temporary, while we research this case.) At the start of the Biden administration, the United States government negotiated a $4 billion debt relief program for farmers of color who for decades have faced discrimination and an inability to obtain loans. However, the US then watered down the debt relief to a race-neutral program. On October 7, 2022, four farmers of color who would have benefited from the original debt relief program filed a class action lawsuit for breach of contract. This case is ongoing.
