This case alleged voting irregularities in the City of Baltimore in violation of the Constitution and the Voting Rights Act.
On June 1, 2016, the organization Voters Organized for Integrity of City Elections along with six private individual voters filed a suit against the Baltimore City Elections Board, the Maryland State Board of Elections, the State Administrator of Elections, and the Elections Director of Baltimore City Elections Board with concerns about election integrity during the 2016 primary elections. Plaintiffs claimed that the election process had many errors and irregularities in violation of the First, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution, 52 U.S.C. §10301, et seq. (Voting Rights Act violation) and 42 U.S.C. §1983 (Civil Rights violation). Plaintiff sought injunctive relief.
On October 14, 2016, the court issued a memorandum summary judgement throwing out the suit since the plaintiffs failed to state any claim for relief and failed to allege any conduct of the defendants that resulted in any election irregularities that would deny voters equal protection of the law.
