This case involved alleged excessive violence, overcrowding, and unsanitary conditions in a county jail. On December 10, 2024, two plaintiffs detained at Fulton County Jail filed this putative class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The plaintiffs sued the Fulton County Sheriff's Office under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Represented by private counsel, the plaintiffs sought declaratory relief, injunctive relief, and damages for themselves and similarly situated plaintiffs. They claimed that the defendants' deliberate indifference to the health and safety of the detainees violated the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments. This lawsuit came after the U.S. Department of Justice found unconstitutional conditions at the Fulton County Jail.
As of January 25, 2025, no further motions have been filed.
