This indictment follows escalating tensions surrounding ICE’s Broadview facility, which has been the site of repeated protests over detainee treatment and local-federal cooperation.

On October 23, 2025, a federal grand jury indicted six individuals for allegedly assaulting and obstructing a federal immigration officer during a protest at the Broadview Service Staging Area (BSSA) in Illinois on September 26, 2025. The charges stem from a confrontation with an ICE logistics agent (“Agent A”) attempting to enter the facility during an ongoing demonstration following “Operation Midway Blitz.” Defendants were charged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. Each defendant faces potential felony penalties for assaulting or impeding a federal officer, in addition to a broader conspiracy charge. This case was assigned to Judge April M. Perry.

The defendants self-surrendered to an initial appearance and arraignment on November 12, 2025. All of whom pled not guilty. The court set a $4,500 appearance bond with conditions. A status conference is set for December 4.

This case is ongoing.

MINUTE entry before the Honorable April M. Perry: Status hearing held 12/4/2025. All defendants were present and each had the assistance of counsel. The parties agree that the Government has tendered two rounds of discovery and that a third round of discovery remains which will be tendered in January. Defense counsel report that there are likely to be pre-trial motions filed regarding discovery and to dismiss the indictment. The next status is to be held 1/28/2026 at 10:30 a.m. in person in Courtroom 1725. Time is excluded through 1/28/2026 pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 3161(h)(7)(A) as it is in the interests of justice for the defendants to be able to receive and review the discovery and to research and file any appropriate pre-trial motions and that interest outweighs the best interests of the public and the defendants in a speedy trial.
