This case is about sidewalk and street accessibility for people with mobility disabilities in Baltimore, Maryland. On June 10, 2021, three residents of Baltimore with mobility disabilities and the IMAGE Center of Maryland sued the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The plaintiffs, represented by lawyers from three disability rights groups and private counsel, sued under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The lawsuit sought a court order requiring Baltimore to ensure its sidewalks and streets are accessible to people with mobility disabilities and that future sidewalks and city projects comply with accessibility laws. In addition, the plaintiffs sought class certification to represent all people with a mobility disability who live in, work in, or will visit the City of Baltimore. The case was assigned to Chief Judge James Bredar.
As of September 29, the case remains ongoing.
