Case Summary

This case seeks the release from immigration detention of a noncitizen who alleges she was targeted for removal based on participation in a pro-Palestinian demonstration. On April 30, 2025, petitioner filed suit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the warden of Prairieland Detention Center,  and various other federal defendants seeking both immediate release and protection against re-detention. She raises claims under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the First Amendment, and the Fifth Amendment. The case is assigned to District Judge Sam A. Lindsay.

The habeas petitioner filed a motion for preliminary injunction ordering release was filed May 5.

The case is ongoing.
