On September 19, 2025, anonymous movant Doe/LBRRN (“LBRRN”) filed a motion for an order quashing the administrative subpoena issued by the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) to Meta Platforms, Inc. dated September 3, 2025. Plaintiff is the owner of @longbeachrapidresponse, an instagram page documenting ICE/CBP raids, posting videos, and criticizing the operations as unlawful and abusive. The subpoena sought the owner's identity, and purports to be in support of a criminal investigation into that person.

Filing in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Plaintiff claimed the disclosure of their identity would cause irreparable harm by destroying anonymity and chilling activism in violation of the First Amendment. In addition to the order quashing DHS’s subpoena to Meta, Plaintiff sought
the preservation of their anonymity and protection of collaborators and confidential sources. Magistrate Judge Alex Tse is presiding over the case.

On September 24, 2025, the court ordered META not to produce the subpoena-ed information pending resolution of the motion, absent a court order to the contrary.

The plaintiffs in Doe v. Department of Homeland Security, N.D. Cal. Case No. 25-mc-080284, Doe v. Department of Homeland Security, N.D. Cal. Case No. 25-mc-080286, and Doe/LBRRN v. Department of Homeland Security, N.D. Cal. Case No. 25-mc-080288 moved to have these cases considered related on October 17, 2025.

This case is ongoing.
