On September 19, 2025, anonymous movant Doe/LBRRN (“LBRRN”) filed a motion for an order quashing the administrative subpoena issued by the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) to Meta Platforms, Inc. dated September 3, 2025. Plaintiff is the owner of @longbeachrapidresponse, an instagram page documenting ICE/CBP raids, posting videos, and criticizing the operations as unlawful and abusive. The subpoena sought the owner's identity, and purports to be in support of a criminal investigation into that person.
Filing in United States District Court of the Northern District of California, Plaintiff claimed the disclosure of their identity would cause irreparable harm by destroying anonymity and chilling activism in violation of the First Amendment. In addition to the rder quashing DHS’s subpoena to Meta, Plaintiff sought
the preservation of their anonymity and protection of collaborators and confidential sources. The plaintiff is represented by Joshua Koltun. Magistrate Judge Alex Tse is presiding over the case.
Pending the resolution of the motion, the court order META not to produce the subpoena-ed information until the court ordered otherwise.
