Case Summary

[This summary is temporary while we research this case.]

On September 30, 2025, the League of Women Voters filed suit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Plaintiffs allege defendants are encouraging and enabling states to use unreliable Social Security Administration (SSA) citizenship data pooled in the overhauled Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to begin purging voter rolls ahead of fast-approaching November elections and to open criminal investigations of alleged non-citizen voting.

This case remains ongoing.
