Case Summary

(This summary is temporary while we investigate the case further). On February 26, 2026, the Civil Rights Division announced it sued Kentucky under the Civil Rights Act of 1960 to compel disclosure of the State’s complete statewide voter registration list, including highly confidential personally identifiable information (e.g., driver’s license number or last four digits of Social Security numbers). Kentucky refused to provide the requested information, citing privacy concerns.
