On January 14, the United States Government brought suit against the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ (MDHS) Hiring Justification Policy seeking declaratory and injunctive relief. Plaintiffs alleged that the Hiring Justification Policy constituted unlawful sex-based discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Minnesota law mandates that state agencies consider state "affirmative action goals on all staffing and personnel decision." Minn. R. 3905.0100.
