In 2024, the National Coalition for Men and four men filed a federal lawsuit challenging the male-only registration requirement of the Military Selective Service Act as a violation of plaintiffs' Fifth Amendment right to equal protection. On March 3, 2026, after losing at the Ninth Circuit, the plaintiffs filed a cert petition with the U.S. Supreme Court.
