In February 2003, the Louisville Area Office of the EEOC brought this lawsuit against H.T. Hackney Company in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky alleging discrimination on the basis of sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We do not have a copy of the complaint; therefore, the exact allegations involved are unknown. After the date for jury trial had been set, the parties settled the lawsuit in June 2003 through a consent decree.
The two-year decree required the defendant to: post notice of employee rights, provide EEO training to all employees and managers, make annual reports to the EEOC regarding complaints, certify compliance with the consent decree, permit the EEOC to enter the premises to monitor compliance, and pay $25,000.
