In September 1999, the EEOC district office in Birmingham, Alabama brought this suit against the Beloit Corporation, doing business as the Beloit Manhattan Corporation, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. The complaint is not currently available. After a successful defense motion to dismiss, the EEOC amended its complaint and defeated the defense's second motion to dismiss. Shortly after the denial order, the parties settled and a consent decree was entered in July of 2002. Although the consent decree is not available, the docket states that four named complainant received monetary relief totaling $98,000.
