The Los Angeles District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Lutheran Social Services of Southern California in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in October 2004. According to the consent decree and docket, the complaint alleged disability discrimination in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. There were no major procedural events before the parties entered into a consent decree in June 2005. The consent decree required the defendant to pay the complainant $80,800 ($5,200 in back pay and the rest in compensatory damages). The three-year consent decree also required the defendant to implement a disability discrimination complaint procedure; train its employees on the requirements of anti-discrimination laws; hire an EEO consultant to ensure compliance with the decree; and submit reports of its compliance with the decree. The settlement was scheduled to last three years, and there is no additional activity reflected in the docket sheet other than submission of status reports, the last being filed on June 6, 2006. Presumably, the case closed in 2008.
