Case Summary

The Miami office of the EEOC brought this action against CSI Fort Lauderdale, Inc. The complaint, filed in July 1998, alleged that Defendant had breached a Negotiated Settlement Agreement ("Agreement") that had been in place between Defendant and the EEOC due to a previous charge of discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The complaint specifically alleged that Defendant had refused to pay the charging party the $7,000 specified in the Agreement and the EEOC sought an Order from the Court specifically enforcing the Agreement. In March 1999, the EEOC moved for a default judgment against Defendant which the Court granted in the amount of $7,000 plus interest.
