Case Summary

In September 2001, the Milwaukee District Office of the EEOC filed this suit against Mercy Medical Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa (d/b/a Mercy Medical Center) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. We do not have a copy of the complaint. However, according to the verdict form, it appears that the complaint alleged discrimination on the basis of race in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After denial of the defendant's motion for summary judgment in February 2003, a jury trial was held in April 2003 with the jury rendering a verdict for the defendant.
