Case Summary

In September 1999, the EEOC's San Antonio office filed this suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against C C Creations, formerly a division of Brazos Sportswear, Inc. Specifically, the EEOC alleged that the defendant had sexually harassed and retaliated against three female complainants and a class of similar females. At the time of this suit, defendant was a debtor-in-possession in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case and had liquidated all of its assets and did not plan on being in business in the future. The defendant did not file an answer to the complaint but, instead, likely entered into settlement discussions immediately as evidenced by multiple joint motions to continue the suit until final resolution. In May 2000, a U.S. Bankruptcy court approved the settlement agreement that the District Court then approved in June 2000. The parties had agreed that the defendant would pay $2,000 to each one of three original complainants.
