Case Summary

The EEOC's Minneapolis district office sued Federal Express Corporation on September 28, 1999 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. The EEOC alleged that Federal Express violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it terminated an employee based on a physical disability (AIDS). FedEx filed a motion for summary judgment in September 2000, followed by the EEOC and intervenor, who intervened in February 2000, filing a motion for summary judgment in October 2000. Both motions were denied in April 2001. The parties ultimately entered into a settlement agreement on August 29, 2001, the contents of which are unknown.
