In June 2006, the Milwaukee office of the EEOC brought this suit against City & National Employment in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. The complaint alleged that the defendant, an employment agency, failed to refer the complainant to certain types of her jobs because she was female in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The case settled by entry of a consent decree in July 2006.
The two year consent required the defendant to refrain from discrimination, develop and implement internal written policies and procedures, provide annual training for all permanent employees, distribute the policy to all employees, post notice, and pay the claimant $8,500 in back pay and damages. The settlement term was 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
