Case Summary

On August 10, 2005, the Philadelphia and Cherry Hill offices of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit under Title VII against Kvaerner Philadelphia Shipyard, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The EEOC alleged that the defendants had violated the rights of the complainant, a female who worked for them as a welder, by subjecting her to sexual harassment in the workplace and by failing to stop the harassment when she complained about it.

On October 21, 2005, the complainant filed a motion to intervene in the case as a plaintiff, and the court granted that motion on November 15, 2005. On February 7, 2006, the EEOC filed a stipulated dismissal of all claims against the defendants, and the plaintiff-intervenor did the same on June 13, 2007. We have no record of the terms of the settlement (if any) because we have only the docket and the EEOC complaint in this case.
