Case Summary

In September 2001, the EEOC district office in Detroit, Michigan brought this action against TruMack Assembly, LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 when the charging party's supervisors created and maintained a sexually hostile work environment, resulting in her constructive discharge.

After a failed defense motion for summary judgment, the parties settled and a consent decree was entered in May 2003. The defendant agreed to pay the aggrieved party $20,000, refrain from retaliating and discriminating on the basis of sex, post an EEO notice, post all applicable EEO laws, and provide EEO training to its staff.
