Case Summary

In September 2004 the Houston office of the EEOC brought this suit against TRL Group, Inc. and Trilegiant Corp. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In its complaint the EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by subjecting female employees to a sexually hostile work environment and causing the constructive discharge of some female employees. A consent decree was entered shortly thereafter in November 2004. The defendant agreed to pay the sole charging party $35,000.00 in damages. The defendant was also required to provide the names of any similarly situated former female employees, and an additional $25,000.00 award was reserved for those potential claims. The defendant was also required to provide anti-harassment training to its managers.
