The EEOC's Baltimore District Office filed this suit against Douron, Inc., d/b/a Douron Corporate Furniture, in September 2005 alleging discrimination in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 ("ADEA"). Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendant denied the charging party a promotion because of his age, hiring a less-qualified but younger individual instead. The defendant filed an answer to the complaint in October 2005, and it then appears there was little or no action in the case until June 2006 when the parties settled through a consent decree.
Under the terms of the three-year decree, containing a non-discrimination clause, the defendant agreed to: post EEOC-provided posters and notices, provide ADEA training to its managers and officers, and pay the charging party $30,000. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
