Case Summary

In July 2004, the Los Angeles District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Cavalier, Inc., d/b/a Cavalier Restaurant and Lounge, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada alleging discrimination in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 ("ADEA"). Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendant terminated the two charging parties, ages sixty-six and sixty-four, because of their age. After some scheduling orders, the parties settled through a consent decree in February 2006.

The two-year decree, containing a non-discrimination clause, required the defendant to: revise and distribute its anti-discrimination policy, post the revised policy, provide annual ADEA training for its employees, report to the EEOC at specified times, and pay $50,000 to be divided between the two charging parties. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
