The EEOC's Chicago office filed this suit on April 25, 2002 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. The EEOC alleged that defendant Dutch Farms, Inc. violated Title VII by subjecting a group of black employees to a pattern and practice of racial discrimination. After the defendant answered, the parties attended seven status conferences. At the final status conference, on April 3, 2003, the parties notified the court of a pending settlement. The consent decree was filed on April 17, 2003.
In the consent decree, the defendant agreed to pay a total of $30,000. $5,000 of the defendant's payment went to the Employment, Counseling, and Training Department of the Chicago Urban League. Defendant also agreed to provide training for all of its employees, post notice of EEO rights, and send records of complaints of racial discrimination to the EEOC.
