Case Summary

The New Orleans Field Office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Joe Christiana Food Distributors, Inc. in July 2003, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. The complaint alleged that defendant discriminated against the charging parties because of their sex. More specifically, it is alleged that the defendant subjected the plaintiff to sexual harassment resulting in a hostile work environment. The complainant intervened in the EEOC's suit, and the parties settled the case by entry of a consent decree in March 2006. The three year consent decree included an anti-discrimination provision, elimination of any records of the charging parties' discrimination complaint, training, and record keeping. The consent decree also required the defendant to pay the charging party $20,000 in damages and forgiveness of an alleged debt of $6800.The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
