The Philadelphia office of the EEOC brought this suit against Mid Atlantic Medical Services, Inc., d/b/a MAMSI, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in April 2003. The complaint filed by the EEOC is unavailable, but the complaint filed by the private party complainants alleged discrimination in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. More specifically, the complaint alleged that MAMSI illegally terminated the complainant after denying her reasonable request for a medical leave of absence. After some initial discovery, the parties agreed on a consent decree that was entered in March 2004. This decree enjoined the defendant from engaging in discrimination or retaliation, and from revealing the complainants involvement in this suit to potential employers. Additionally, the Defendant is required to provide one training session to all managers and exempt Human Resource Personnel.
