Case Summary

In April 2004, the EEOC district office in Chicago, Illinois brought this action against T-Mobile USA, Inc., a national cellular phone service provider, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint alleged that the defendant violated Title VII by subjecting a female employee to sexual harassment and firing her in retaliation when she filed charges with the EEOC. After cursory discovery and a plethora of scheduling conferences, the parties settled and a consent decree was entered in November 2005.

In the consent decree, the parties agreed that the defendant would refrain from retaliating and discriminating based on sex, pay the aggrieved woman $100,000, post an EEO notice, and submit semiannual complaint reports to to the EEOC. No fees or costs were awarded. The terms of the agreement ran for two years.

The decree was entered in 2005 and scheduled to last until 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
